| Climate/Topography
|
Molokai
is a volcanic island whose features range from modest sea cliffs on the
northwest coast to extensive beaches and sand dunes on the south and west.
Although not a large island, Molokai offers infinite variety in its terrain
from bleached white to jet black beaches, spectacular, rugged sea cliffs,
lowland desert, rainforests, bogs, fern forests, grasslands, and lowland
forest. The sunny, arid rolling hills of West Molokai's resort area receives
virtually no rainfall during the summer months, with maybe 2-4 inches during
the winter. |

Courses |
The Ironwood Hills Golf Club is a 9-hole public course located near
the Kalaupapa Peninsula on Molokai's rugged north shore. It was the first
and, for nearly forty years, only golf course on the island. It is Par 34
for 2,816-yards, offering challenging play with a backdrop of raw natural
beauty. Ironwood Hills is a straightforward mountain course with few doglegs
and no ponds. The challenge on this course lies in the hilly terrain, the
narrow, heavily wooded fairways, and the small, fast greens. In addition,
the strong trades on Molokai's north shore can reach up to 25 miles per
hour in the afternoon, and golfers may find it advisable to play this course
in the morning hours.
The Kaluakoi Golf Course is a championship, 6,618-yard Ted Robinson-designed
course that takes full advantage of the unparalleled West Molokai views.
Bound seaside by Kepuhi and Papohaku Beaches along the sparkling Pacific
Ocean, the course's inland contours fringe the open rangeland, blending
with untouched wilderness. Stretched across 160 manicured acres, every hole
is a different experience, with contoured fairways, gemlike lakes and deviously
placed bunkers to challenge your game and still whet your appetite for more.
